Manchester Monarchs Booster Club members had the opportunity to have their
say as to what player would win the 2005-2006 MMBC Player of the Year Award
at the last two games in March. Of the 87 members of the booster club, 51
voted for the player they felt deserved such an award.
The vote ended up being a horse race between two well-deserving players. Petr
Kanko came out on top of the heap and claimed the honor of winning the 2005-
2006 Player of the Year Award. Other players receiving votes were Barry Brust,
Noah Clarke, Alexandre Daigle, Brad Fast, Adam Hauser, Greg Hogeboom, Ryan
Murphy, Konstantin Pushkarev, Lauri Tukonen, Connor James, Doug Nolan and
Matt Ryan.
Petr received this award during the Monarchs on-ice award presentation
ceremony held before the April 14, 2006 home game with the Lowell Lock
Monsters. MMBC President Bill Walch and Vice President Marlene Lein
presented the 2005-2006 MMBC Player of the Year Award to Petr.
The award is made in the shape of the State of New Hampshire, with the MMBC
logo on the upper part of the award and below it the inscription of “The MMBC
honors Petr Kanko as Player of the Year 2005-2006 in recognition of his
outstanding contributions to the Manchester Monarchs during the entire
season”.
Along with the award, Petr received a $50.00 gift card to the Wild Rover
